Welcome Back

September 1, 2021

Hello #NorthsideStJ families,

We successfully wrapped up our week of Jumpstart Kindergarten, which was great to see so many smiling faces in Northside’s halls!  We are excited to welcome families back next week on Tuesday, September 7th, for the 1st-5th Grade Entrance Conference.  The first day of school is Wednesday, September 8th for K-5 students at 8:10am.

If you have yet to sign up for a time, you may do so by going to the PTCFast Website: https://ptcfast.com/schools/Northside_Elementary_School_1

Please bring the envelope you received in August with your child’s paperwork to Northside for conferences.

As we start the year, I want to share a few changes and updates heading into the school year.

Due to supervision capabilities, the school doors will remain locked until approximately 7:45am. At that time, students will move to the cafeteria for breakfast or outside for morning recess.

DROP-OFF and DISMISSAL Changes

Our student drop-off location has changed to the loop closest to Smithfield.

The Bus Loop has moved directly in front of Northside.

We ask that families do not use the front loop from 7:30-8:30am and 2:30-3:45pm. Those time frames will be used for the busses.

Currently the school board recommends masks, but masks are not required to begin the school year.  The school board will be revisiting that on a monthly basis and sooner if that presents itself.

Turnaround Arts Kick-Off

We invite you after attending your child’s conference on Tuesday, September 7th to stop in the Northside Commons.  Lisa Becker, Visual Arts Teacher, will be there with a school wide community arts project that we want students and families to be a part of.  We are creating a piece of work inspired by the sculptor Louise Nevelson.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

GO SAINTS!

Respectfully,

Liam Dawson, Principal
